Absence Management
Workplace sickness absence, which currently stands at an average of 11 days and £522 per employee, costs Britain's business approximately £13 billion per annum. All organisations can expect some level of absence, however persistently high levels of sickness absence can be costly to any business as a whole and adversely affect efficiency, productivity, profitability and morale. In principle, employers need to develop approaches to prevent, monitor and ultimately manage sickness absence.

MOHS will endeavor to help you business to reduce absenteeism rates by providing you with a Company Medical Officer who will be responsible for advising you on all medical issues in the workplace. We will manage all your medical quickly and efficiently by obtaining medical reports, from the referred employees General Practitioner. We can also refer the individual for a Customised Medical Assessment© or for an Independent Medical Assessment with one of our network of regional doctors.

Employees should be referred to us for any of the following reasons:

1. Medium and long term absence
2. Repeated episodes of short term sickness absence
3. Stress
4. Rehabilitation post accident or illness
5. Poor performance
6. Substance misuse
7. Self referral

We will then provide the Human Resources Representative with a detailed management report as soon as we obtain all of the necessary information about the referred individual. In this report we will advise you on how to manage the employee including recommendations on:

  • Fitness to work
  • Expected return to work date
  • Restrictions on employment
  • Likelihood of any further absence
  • Implications under the Disability Discrimination Act
  • Termination of employment (Early Ill Health Retirement)
